Visitation
Congregational Care
If you’re interested in making a difference in someone’s life, enjoy a flexible schedule but have only a certain amount of time to give, consider being a part of our congregational care team. Team members visit with those of our fellowship who are unable to participate, as they once did, in the ongoing life of the church. Training is provided.
The Art of Caregiving
This nine-part seminar offers a “How-To, Don’t-Do” education on the essential elements of becoming a nurturing Christian care minister. It is not a prerequisite to serving on the visitation team, but is strongly recommended, particularly if you are new to this ministry. Instructors are church members in the health and social science professions, Stephen Ministers, and those gifted/experienced at caring personally and spiritually. Role playing, real stories and videos help make this training a fact- and fun-filled learning experience. Training is offered annually, beginning in October. As a culmination of the series, Pastor Paul Fahnestock will offer a separate day’s workshop on “Discovering Your Spiritual Gifts.”

Home Visitation
Home Visitation volunteers, trained by the pastoral staff, visit members of our church family who were once busy and active but now, due to health problems, are unable to get out as often. One Home Visitation volunteer observed, “I get as much out of the visit as I had hoped for the person I’m visiting.” Maybe this ministry might be the start of something really good for you.
Contact Parish Nurse (239-992-3233 X296) to request a visit or express your interest in being a volunteer.
Home Communion
Home Communion extends the corporate celebration of Communion (six times a year) directly into the homes of those members who cannot attend church due to health reasons. Volunteers (generally ordained elders and deacons) are sent out in pairs. Brief instructions and portable Communion kits are provided after the Communion service in the sanctuary. Visits usually last about an hour. Volunteers can participate in the home communion ministry as often as they wish.
Contact Administrative Assistant (239-992-3233 X244) to request Home Communion or to volunteer as part of the team.
