Wonder Years Preschool

Discover the Wonder ... Develop the Whole Child

Wonder Years Preschool is an outreach ministry of First Presbyterian Church to the children and families of our community. It provides various classes for children ages 18 months to five years. If you are looking for a Christian preschool in southwest Florida, we invite you to contact our staff at Wonder Years. We offer nurturing and education for the growth of the total child — spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical – with a flexible menu of schedules, excellent student to teacher ratio, safe modern facilities and a loving environment.

History and Mission Statement of the School

Wonder Years was founded in 1997, and has grown steadily to a current student population of over 140. The current director, Mrs. Jennifer Boocock, has been part of the school leadership since its founding. In 2006 the school received prestigious certification by APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment), following a two-year self-study and verification process. The mission of the school is “to provide a nurturing and loving Christian environment that will enrich the lives of children and support their families through preschool activities."

Educational Philosophy of the School

The philosophy of the school is as follows:
  • We believe that each child is created by God as an individual who is special and unique. It is our intent to help each child develop positive self-esteem through being loved and accepted, contributing and belonging to a group.
  • We believe and are devoted to the development of the whole child by providing a wholesome Christian learning atmosphere where children feel safe and develop at their own rate to encourage spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth.
  • We believe that it is essential for the teaching staff to be good role models for young children so that they may observe appropriate Christian behavior.
  • We believe children learn best by doing and thrive in a developmentally-prepared setting. We feel each classroom needs to be arranged with a variety of interest centers that engage each to participate, discover and create.
