Sponsor a Compassion Child today!

First Presbyterian Church has a wonderful partnership with Compassion International — a Christian child development ministry whose mission is to release children from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults. FPC members and friends have sponsored more than 1000 children from 26 of the poorest countries in the world.

For $38 a month, a Compassion sponsor supports their child in a Compassion Project, prays for their child and writes letters of support. A sponsored child’s life is changed — they hear about Jesus, receive educational opportunities, health care, hygiene training and supplemental food. This all happens through a Compassion Project working with a local church in the child’s neighborhood to provide personal attention, guidance and love.

First Church has also specifically invested in a Compassion Child Survival Program in an area of the Dominican Republic (DR), which provides care for mothers and babies from prenatal to 1-year-old. At 1-year-old, the child moves into the Compassion Project as a sponsored child.

Please come look at the Child Sponsorship Packets that are available today after worship in the narthex.

Many of our sponsors join with their grandchild in their sponsorship.

The grandparent pays the $38 a month and the grandchild regularly prays for their Compassion child and acts as the primary letter-writer. A great way to teach your grandchild about God’s compassion for the world!
