In Matthew 25, Jesus compels His followers to visit those in jail. Since 2010, volunteers from First Church have been answering that call. Our Jail Ministry participates in the Chaplain’s Program at two Lee County correctional facilities in Fort Myers. The program allows our volunteers to distribute Christian books and literature in the inmate housing facilities and also provides opportunities to share the gospel and pray with the inmates. Those who conduct Bible studies open the Word of God to both seekers and those who may have fallen away. Working with the support of our Deacons and the First Church BookCenter, Christian books and Bibles are also provided to the Chaplain’s Library.
