Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to needy boys and girls in over 170 countries and territories worldwide. This is often the first gift many children have ever received! The treasures and personal letters inside communicate that someone cares for them and gives them an opportunity to experience the love of God. With each box, children receive a Gospel storybook that explains the Good News of Jesus Christ. Boys and girls are then invited to participate in a voluntary Bible study course that introduces them to Jesus Christ and what it means to follow Him; upon completion, they receive a New Testament Bible. Millions of boys and girls have indicated that they have committed their lives to Jesus Christ after receiving shoebox gifts and participating in the follow-up program.

Members and friends of First Church are invited to participate!
(1) Pick up a shoebox (with instruction sheet and label) at the OCC kiosk in McClure Hall or at the east and west church entrances.
(2) Return your gift-filled OCC shoebox no later than November 7 to the OCC kiosk or the church office.
(3) Bless the children and their families with your continued prayers.

For more information, contact Director of Missions Trusha Barner or visit the Samaritan’s Purse website, where you can also build a shoebox online through December 31!
