Developing cataracts is a normal part of aging and affects millions of Americans every year, but what exactly are cataracts, and what does treatment involve? Dr. James E. Croley III is a local board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and advanced treatment of cataracts. He leads this seminar to help us understand the many aspects of this eye condition, including various types of cataracts and the correct indications for having surgery.

Cataracts, the clouding of the eye’s natural lens, can affect a person’s ability to drive at night and can also cause blurry vision, glare, and faded color. Cataract surgery involves removing the clouded lens and replacing it with an intraocular lens. Dr. Croley will describe the various procedures available, and the different types of multifocal intraocular lenses used to correct one’s vision during surgery.

With over 40 years of industry experience, Dr. Croley has served on the Council to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is president of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology. He is the founder and medical director of the Cataract & Refractive Institute of Florida. A renowned leader in his field, he has been voted America’s Top Ophthalmologist by the Consumer Research Council of America. He also instructs other eye doctors on laser precision cataract surgery.

This event is sponsored by our Parish Nurse Ministry and free of charge to members of the community. Come meet Dr. Croley and find out what you really need to know about cataract surgery.
