As part of his doctorate work in Worship Studies, Sacred Arts Director Jeff Faux will lead a series of classes examining the unique challenges First Church faces as we build the body of Christ through worship. Some of those challenges include the seasonal nature of the church, the number of members who are homebound or in assisted living facilities, and the number of people who worship primarily via livestream. These classes will challenge our perception that our relationship with God is something strictly between God and the individual. We will see how we are biblically called to build a community that is rooted in the worship of God communally, and how First Church can overcome its unique challenges to ensure that everyone who worships with us has the opportunity to be fully connected to the body of Christ.

Class Titles:
January 16: The Individual and the Community
January 23: The Covenantal community
January 30: The Community as the Bride and Body of Christ
February 6: The Worshiping Community
February 13: The Community Formed in Worship
February 20: Building and Keeping Community at First Church
