The Salvation Army’s ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in his name without discrimination. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance each year through a broad array of social services that provide food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and outreach to the elderly. The needs of the working poor and homeless are addressed by fostering self-reliance through arranging employment, transitional or permanent housing, vocational training, and employment classes. The local Bonita Springs Mission Station provides help to mothers with newborn babies, nursing assessments/health education, prescription education, substance abuse and mental health counseling, a mobile food pantry, and other outreach services.
