The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group of praying women who knit or crochet prayer shawls, prayer cloths, and fidget mitts for those needing comfort and solace. Blessings are knitted into every item that is intentionally given or sent to family, friends, and individuals going through difficult times (grief, pain, loss, surgery, sickness, etc.).

From the college student embracing the shawl as constant encouragement to the woman with Alzheimer’s comforted by holding tight to the fidget mitt to the cancer patient strengthened during chemotherapy, this ministry sends a warm, heavenly hug through each crafted piece. As Jesus met individuals with compassion, the Prayer Shawl Ministry is committed to reminding recipients that the Body of Christ is with them in their time of need.

Each crafter begins every piece with prayers and blessings for the recipient. When it is complete a final blessing covers it before it is sent in the name of Jesus. This ministry has become a unifying chain of kindness as some recipients pay it forward by making a shawl, cloth, or mitt for someone needing a heavenly touch. Thus, the blessings ripple from person to person with both the giver and receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a caring, loving God!
