Severe back pain landed my healthy husband in the hospital and various doctors had no answers. Early in his hospital stay, the Holy Spirit nudged me to arrive before dawn and I was present when he stopped breathing. After a nearby nurse called a code, Rich was placed on a ventilator in ICU where he coded twice more. His organs began to fail with atrial fibrillation, pneumonia, signs of kidney failure, and deep vein thrombosis.
During his third week in ICU, an endocrinologist discovered Rich’s adrenal glands had hemorrhaged and were not functioning. Placing Rich on medications to counteract his body’s response to an allergic reaction and treat adrenal insufficiency, this doctor’s discovery was an answered prayer!
Two and a half months later, Rich left the hospital with a walker and feeding tube (which was removed after four weeks of therapy). Although it was a grueling experience, Rich regained strength through the summer and was back to playing tennis and golf by late October. Today he is active, healthy, and thriving!
God drew us closer to Him, displayed His love and grace, and confirmed that miracles happen. There’s infinite joy thinking that even one person accepted our Lord through this! Some miracles included God nudging me to be at Rich’s bedside when he first coded and placing a nurse near Rich’s room to respond immediately. He used the endocrinologist to discover the underlying issue and put another nurse angel in ICU to pray with me daily. And the Lord used my dear friends to provide strength and prayer.
