“Spiritual healing is received in and through a community of believers devoted to seeking God’s healing power, love, and will in prayer.”
– Order of St. Luke

God has the power to heal us spiritually, emotionally, physically, and relationally through prayer. As such, it is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. In prayer, God offers Himself to us, and we present ourselves to Him. We talk, and God listens and responds. In addition, we leave room for God to speak to us, and we respond to God. Simply defined, prayer is an intimate and transformative encounter with God through our Savior, Jesus Christ. By prayer, God fashions us into His image, conforms us unto His will, and works His purposes out in our lives, all while enabling us to grow deeper in our relationship with Him. For these reasons, it is a powerful experience to be a part of a praying church.

Traditionally, First Church offered a Communion and Healing Prayer service on Sundays following the last service of the morning. Beginning in January that time is now more focused on prayer. We offer A Time of Prayer in Price Chapel following the 11AM service. The purpose of this brief time is to provide our members and friends the opportunity to encounter God through prayer and to be prayed for by one of the pastors or an Order of St. Luke prayer leader. If you or someone you love is in trouble, happy, sick, or simply wants to grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord, we invite you to come and be prayed over by one of the team members.

Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray.
Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise.
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of
the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil
in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith
will make the sick person well…
